Atlanta Hawks v Philadelphia Sixers
It was one of the most epic comebacks in NBA playoff history. With minutes left in the third quarter, the Sixers were 26 points ahead. Then, they choked.
The Atlanta Hawks stormed back into the game to win it 109-106, as they reversed poor 31% shooting in the first half with a virtuoso fourth quarter in which they went 16-of-22 from the field.
At one point, the Sixers were 99.7% likely to win at their best point in the game. What’s even worse is that it came right after the team blew an 18-point lead in the series’ game 4. That makes Philadelphia the only team in the past 25 years to have blown two such leads in back-to-back playoff games.
And to think that it started so brightly for them: Joel Embiid had 24 points and 10 rebounds in just the first half and the Sixers were sizzling from beyond the arc, making 8 of their first 12 threes. Seth Curry, meanwhile, played out of his mind to get a career playoff high 36 points.
It was not enough, though. After failing to even take a shot in the last quarter of game 4, Sixers point guard Ben Simmons did even worse in game 5, shooting 4-for-14 from the free throw line as the Hawks clawed back the game.
Clearly, the Sixers will need to exorcise some ghosts if they are to revive their championship aspirations after two consecutive disaster games in this playoff matchup.
The series now heads to Atlanta, where the Hawks can secure their first conference finals since 2015. All eyes will be on Trae Young, who scored a career-high 39 points, but watch out for Lou Williams, too: the veteran racked up 13 points in just four minutes down the stretch.

LA Clippers v Utah Jazz
The Clippers can count on a full capacity crowd at the Staples Center when they seek to deal the Utah Jazz a knockout blow in game 6 of this NBA conference semifinal playoff series.
Statistically, the winner of game 5 in a 2-2 series has won the series 82% of the time.
The Clippers find themselves in such a solid position after they rocked the Jazz on their home court, stunning them 119-111 despite the absence of their best player, All-NBA star Kawhi Leonard, due to injury.
If the Clippers came up with such a clutch performance, a lot of the credit must go to their forward Paul George.
The Playoff P has been on fire this postseason, scoring more than 20 points in each of the Clippers’ 12 playoff games. He went one better in game 5, scoring 37 points with 16 rebounds and 5 assists to lead his team.
For Utah, this game 5 loss hurt more than they would like to admit.
All-star guard Mike Conley Jr. has not played at all this series and fellow star Donovan Mitchell is playing hurt and with limited mobility. But with the Clippers (+110)having brought their A-game while missing their own superstar in Leonard, the Jazz can hardly blame their injury roster for their woes.
It would help if Quin Snyder’s men rediscovered their shooting form in time for game 6: the Jazz (-130) are a team built to shoot threes and they showed it in the first half, making 17 threes from 30 attempts. But those hot hands went cold in the second half, when they could only manage 3-of-24 from beyond the arc.
